Description

In the above photo, with the brown grip, you will see an example of our great sword, which is also referred to as a spadone or montante. These long flat tang blades can have a blade length of 44 to 54 inches, and an overall maximum length (including tang) of 72 inches. This example has a blade length of 45 inches and an overall length of 63 1/2 inches. So it is actually on the small end of the spectrum in terms of blade length. It has the disk shaped pommel which is standard. In the same photo, on the left, with the unstained grip, you will see one of our largest Fiori long swords for size comparison. These great sword hilts come mounted on our extra long flat tang blades and can have overall lengths of 72 inches. Guards are 15 inches across and have rolled ends for safety. The guards come standard with two forward facing hooks and two side rings. The hooks are rounded and are not actually sharp, though they might bruise an opponent in a collision. In the above left photo the hooks have been removed. We can also remove one or both side rings at no extra charge. The below photo depicts the complete hilt with both side rings, both cross guard hooks, and the pear shaped pommel. This hilt also includes the optional 8 inch long schilt and fore hooks. The schilt and fore hooks can be added at a charge of $30.
